Introducing A One-Room Schoolhouse for the Next Generation

The Minnow Academy is a Christ-centered hybrid school serving K–12 students. We meet Tuesdays through Thursdays in person, with home-based learning on Mondays and Fridays.

Our multi-age classroom model, discipleship-based approach, and hands-on learning style reflect the way education was always meant to be—personal, purposeful, and deeply rooted in faith.

We Believe In:

đź“– Spiritual Discipleship

Spiritual growth is the heartbeat of The Minnow Academy. Discipleship here isn’t just a subject—it’s a way of life. Rooted in our pillars—Knowing the King and His Kingdom, Worship in Spirit and Truth, and Cultivating Godly Character—we guide students to build a personal relationship with Jesus, walk in integrity, and live above reproach. Daily rhythms of worship, prayer, and Scripture help students grow in their faith, while character studies challenge them to reflect Christ in their actions.

Discipleship doesn’t stop at the classroom door. We actively involve parents in the spiritual development of their children, providing tools, devotionals, and intentional conversation starters to continue the journey at home. Together, as a school and family community, we raise young disciples.

🎓 Academic Excellence

True academic excellence reflects the character of God—orderly, purposeful, and above reproach. We challenge students to think critically, communicate clearly, and work diligently, not for grades, but as an act of worship (Colossians 3:23). Our student-led approach nurtures ownership of learning and real-world application, equipping students to problem-solve, create, and lead with wisdom and integrity. Excellence here isn’t measured by comparison, but by growth, responsibility, and the pursuit of truth in every subject.

We use a blend of curriculum designed by The Minnow Academy along with carefully chosen, Christ-centered academic programs from trusted outside sources. This combination allows us to tailor learning to each student’s needs while maintaining both academic rigor and a strong Biblical foundation in every subject we teach.

🌱 Real-Life Skills

We believe in raising up students who can build and sustain Christ-centered communities—just like the early church in Acts 2. Our real-life skills program teaches students how to live in harmony with others, meet practical needs, and steward resources well. From gardening and cooking to budgeting, building, and community service, students learn to care for people and creation with purpose and joy. These hands-on experiences prepare them to live simply, work diligently, and contribute meaningfully to the body of Christ—equipped to thrive in any season and serve others as the Church was always meant to.

We also make use of the incredible resources found right here in our own town—from the waterways and woods that surround us to the potpourri of untapped talent among our neighbors. Local citizens and volunteers generously visit the Academy each month to share their skills and stories, offering students a wide range of real-world knowledge and inspiration. Whether it’s fly fishing, woodworking, baking, or storytelling, every shared experience helps root students more deeply in community and give honor to the wisdom already among us.

A Note From The Founder

I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Jessica Fischer—wife, mom of four, lifelong learner, and the heart behind this little school with a big purpose.

After teaching in traditional classrooms and then homeschooling my own children, I began to see a gap in what students truly needed—something deeper than just academics. Kids need a place to grow in wisdom, not just knowledge. A place where their identity is rooted in truth, their character is shaped by faith, and their education is built on purpose, not pressure.

That’s why I started The Minnow Academy. What began as a humble homeschool journey has grown into a thriving community of families seeking something more: meaningful education grounded in Christian discipleship, practical life skills, and academic excellence.

Our classroom is filled with laughter, worship, hands-on learning, and real connection. We believe students thrive when they’re known, loved, and guided by truth. Whether your child is just starting out or preparing for the world beyond school, we’re here to help them grow—not just smarter, but stronger in spirit and character.

Thank you for considering us as part of your child’s journey. It’s an honor to walk alongside families who want to raise Kingdom-minded kids who know who they are, Whose they are, and why they’re here.
